I’m happy to share that Infoblox has won the Smart Urban Innovation Awards 2022 cybersecurity category for “Securing the Smart City—Aizawl.” The awards were announced during the fifth Smart Cities Summit organised by the business chamber FICCI held virtually on April 29, 2022. You can watch the Summit and Awards ceremony on YouTube. Infoblox’s win appears at the 27:30 minute mark.
The FICCI Awards are a prestigious program in the Indian business community and draw participation from hundreds of organizations across the country. The Urban Innovation program is a way to highlight and celebrate the technological advancements and innovations that Indian cities can explore and adopt to confront challenges including climate change, population growth, and the continuing emergence of Smart Cities technologies.
BloxOne Threat Defense Secures the Smart City
Urban planners and IT decision makers in the public sector globally are embracing Smart Cities strategies and technologies in a big way, looking to leverage them to automate key municipal services and operations, and to promote improvements in efficiency and safety in public life. In working with Infoblox, these municipalities are seeking to provide core infrastructure that supports a high quality of life for citizens, and promote a clean, safe and sustainable environment. The focus is on sustainable and inclusive development, with the longer-range goal of creating a replicable model which will act like a lighthouse to other aspiring cities.
In support of their Smart Cities initiative, many cities are deploying Infoblox NIOS DDI to power DNS, DHCP and IPAM operations that will support easy deployment of IoT technology. With powerful DDI technologies in place, these cities will be able to promote automation within core municipal infrastructure operations, including water, sewer, traffic, electricity and other utilities. Cool stuff, but the security story is where things really get exciting. As we all know, the traditional security model is inadequate in today’s world of digital transformations and Smart Cities. The perimeter has shifted, with users now directly accessing cloud-based applications from everywhere.
Many IT decision makers are realising that IoT-oriented Smart City initiatives are leading to an explosion of devices that do not accept traditional endpoint technologies for protection. What is needed instead is a scalable, simple and automated security solution that protects the entire network without the need to deploy or manage additional infrastructure. This is the exact use case addressed by BloxOne Threat Defense, which strengthens and optimizes security from the foundation up.
BloxOne Threat Defense maximizes protection by securing existing networks as well as digital imperatives like IoT and the cloud. It uses hybrid architecture for pervasive, inside-out protection, optimizing the performance of the entire security ecosystem and reducing total cost of enterprise threat defense. With BloxOne Threat Defense in place, these municipalities will now be able to secure the networking infrastructure deployed to support Smart City objectives, protecting digital assets from cyberattack, ransomware exploits, data exfiltration and unauthorized access.
Many thanks to our friends in the public sector who are benefiting from Infoblox solutions, the FICCI Awards, the Smart Cities Initiatives, and all the Bloxers who made this award possible.
