Back in 1995, the words “content is king” were uttered by Bill Gates. He was referring to the proliferation of the web and what would drive the success of this new found communication channel. A community is no different – “Content is king,” but I would add, “so is participation and engagement.”
This week’s Tip & Trick is simple, but often over-looked. Before you can jump into the conversation, you’ll need to take one final step before you can begin posting content, downloading files, or engaging in the community; “Verify Your Account.”
Once you’ve created your account, you’ll receive an email asking you to click a link/verify, which helps eliminate bots from creating fictitious accounts on the site. You’ll receive the verification email within a few minutes. Once you’ve clicked the link, you’re ready to jump in and participate on the site.
Here’s a couple of other recommendations:
- Use your work email address. There are a few blacklisted domains, and we don’t want your account getting the proverbial “axe.”
- Fill out your profile information. Let us and others know who you are. After all, it’s a small industry, and it’s a good bet you know others on the site!
