RSAC is back, May 17 – 20, and this year, it’s virtual!
RSAC is where industry visionaries, leaders and peers explore the latest breakthrough ideas and help pave the way for the industry’s continued growth and innovation. Infoblox is proud to be a bronze sponsor of the RSA Conference this year. Register for RSAC and stop by our virtual booth in the Digital Expo at the show to learn how the BloxOneTM platform can turbocharge your security stack.
The theme for this year’s RSAC is ‘Resilience,’ especially appropriate after a year where IT and security teams demonstrated tremendous ingenuity and flexibility while responding to an unprecedented, global crisis.
A key part of that flexibility was enabled by the rapid adoption of cloud-based applications and services which accelerated during the pandemic and shutdowns.
From cloud apps to private cloud data centers, nearly every organization is using the cloud in some form today. By 2022, over 90% of enterprises worldwide will rely on a mix of cloud and legacy platforms to meet their infrastructure needs, and nearly 75% of government CIOs will be directly responsible for security outside of IT by 2025, including operational and mission-critical technology environments.
The core network service, DNS, plays a key role in ensuring that users can connect to these cloud services. Unfortunately, as organizations grow more dependent on DNS, attacks on and through DNS are on the rise. Many security solutions overlook DNS activity in favor of more common channels like HTTP(S) and email. As a result, DNS has become a favorite target for DDoS attacks, which rose 542% last year, and is also being exploited for tunneling, C2 communications, and even data exfiltration.
The centrality of DNS to cyber security today should put DNS security at the top of any ‘must see’ checklist for this year’s RSA Conference.
While many products such as NGFW, SWG and other solutions are starting to claim DNS security capabilities, most offer little more than a list of ‘bad” IP addresses for blocking. A truly effective DNS security solution should be able to answer the following questions:
- Is it cloud-native? In today’s hybrid and cloud-first world, a secure DNS solution should be designed from the ground up as a cloud service, protecting you in the cloud and before the threat reaches your doorstep.
- Does it use Machine Learning/AI? With attackers constantly modifying their methods of attack, your solution should be able to detect malicious behavior to block C2 communications, data exfiltration, DGA and more–without waiting for a researcher to update a list.
- Does it secure my entire enterprise? Any device that uses your DNS, whether it is on-premises or in a remote location–including IoT–needs DNS security.
- Does it work with my other security solutions? The last thing you need is another siloed security tool. Look for one that can share events, threat intelligence, context, and more with the rest of the security stack.
We are bringing answers to all these questions and more at our virtual RSAC booth as a bronze sponsor in the Digital Expo!
The challenges of securing large numbers of remote workers will remain long after offices reopen, as organizations increasingly combine remote and in-office work.
