Network World recently published an article of mine on a new kind of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) threat that I’m calling a “Nonsense Name” attack.
It wreaks havoc on both recursive and authoritative name services by overwhelming the servers with nonsense requests (as the name implies). Several of our customers have been targeted.
Fortunately, there are remedies, which I offer in the piece. Some can be deployed during an attack; others you can deploy now to protect yourself in the future.
