The heartbeat of a network remains its core services: DNS, DHCP and IP Address Management. To keep a network healthy and efficient, these services must be dependable while adapting to new requirements. 8.5, the newest release of the Infoblox NIOS operating system, adds many capabilities by following the mandates of addressing emerging trends and answering the specific needs expressed by customers. NIOS 8.5 meets these goals as no other DDI solution does can.
Organizations adopting the hybrid cloud need freedom of choice regarding service offerings. Infoblox DDI is already integrated with three virtualization platforms: VMware, Microsoft Azure and Red Hat OpenStack. NIOS 8.5 adds Nutanix Acropolis Hypervisor support to this portfolio, bringing a fourth degree of freedom for deploying workloads in a hybrid or private cloud.
NIOS 8.5 adds a feature, the NIOS Grid Connector, that increases operational efficiency by linking DDI data to the BloxOneTM Cloud. Using the BloxOneTM Cloud Service Portal, the cloud-based interface for BloxOneTM DDI and BloxOneTM Threat Defense, an administrator can view DNS and IP data from Trinzic appliances residing on one or more Infoblox Grids.
It is Infoblox’ policy to invite customer guidance on product direction. As evidence of this, over 50 additional customer-driven enhancements are included in NIOS 8.5. Among them are:
- The ability to discovery Meraki SD-WAN devices in a network
- A plug-in that supports Terraform
- A containerized plug-in for Red Hat OpenStack Platform
- vDiscovery for Google Cloud Platform
- Extended DTC scalability
- REST and Outbound API enhancements
- Many others are described in the NIOS 8.5 Release Notes.
The benefits of 8.5 are significant reasons to update NIOS. They also bolster the case to upgrade first-generation Trinzic appliances to “XXX5” Trinzics and take advantage of the Transformation Trade-Up promotion before it ends on June 30.
