Deeper Integration with Microsoft Windows Server 2016
NIOS 8.2 software deepens our integration with Microsoft Windows Server 2016. The NIOS 8.2 release will capture DNS and DHCP information from Microsoft Windows Server 2016 and incorporate it in the NIOS authoritative IPAM database. This creates a more comprehensive storehouse of network information and allows for expansive, integrated network services management.
Beyond capturing Server 2016 DNS and DHCP information within IPAM, NIOS 8.2 functionality also makes this information available to Infoblox Reporting & Analytics software. With this a user can enjoy “single pane of glass” presentation and analytics on the Infoblox + Microsoft DNS/DHCP landscape.
Fault Tolerant DNS Caching
Another new feature in NIOS 8.2 software is Fault Tolerant DNS Caching. This capability mitigates the impact on a website from attacks against an authoritative DNS Server, including a third party authoritative DNS server. The DDoS attack against Dyn in 2016 is an example of one such incident. Websites which were not themselves targeted were nonetheless unable to serve visitors because their authoritative DNS servers were attacked.
Expanded Coverage of Security Integrations
The third major enhancement in NIOS 8.2 software is the extension of Infoblox’s security integrations to three more vendors. NIOS 8.2 functionality will leverage outbound APIs to forward DDI data to McAfee, ForeScout and Tenable when a network change or suspicious event is detected. These partner solutions can react with scanning and/or asset management functions. By sharing DDI data the functionality helps raise operational efficiency and automate threat mitigation.
