At Infoblox, we have always tried to create a culture of giving back to the community. Even though mankind has made significant progress in combating poverty in many parts of the world, there is still too much of a difference between the have’s and the have not’s. At Infoblox, we have been very fortunate to enjoy much success with our customers and partners, and as a result, we have all prospered as employees. Giving back to our supporting communities is something we all enjoy doing.
Recently, I had the pleasure of joining Infoblox employees in a teambuilding experience with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada to build and donate bicycles, helmets, and locks to deserving children in the local community. This is the second year the company has incorporated this annual event into our Sales Kick Off, and it brought the team together and helped put perspective on how fortunate we are and how a few hours of our time can make a significant difference in someone’s life.
Infoblox selected the “Bike Build for Charity” program facilitated by Impact 4 Good, LLC., a company that runs socially conscious teambuilding programs, to oversee this community service activity. Working in teams, participants competed in a high-paced “Race Across America” contest to see who would emerge victorious in a set of challenges. Salespeople love challenges J The challenges included crossing Route 66 in a relay race styled competition, skating through California, avoiding potholes in NYC, as well as the U.S themed trivia activity. After participating in the challenges, teams then started building their bikes. Teams assembled the children’s bikes along with a special “message of encouragement” to accompany each bike! Attendees were given a joyful surprise at the end of the event, as the group of children being donated to, came to receive their brand-new bike in person!
In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them. Boys & Girls Clubs offer that and more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence. At the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada, the mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need them most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Based on the interests and needs of the boys and girls they serve, the club offers diverse program activities in five areas: Character and Leadership Development, Education and Career Development, The Arts, Sports Fitness and Recreation, and Health and Life Skills.
I am so thankful to be part of the Infoblox community that cares about others and giving back to those in need. I look forward to next year’s event and furthering our partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Southern Nevada.
