As the executive vice president of Engineering at Infoblox, I’m thrilled to announce our partnership with Google Cloud. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in our commitment to simplifying enterprise networking and security while helping organizations accelerate their cloud transformation journey.
There are two components to our partnership announcement Infoblox Universal DDI™ for Google’s Cloud WAN and DNS Armor, powered by Infoblox. In this blog, I’ll touch on how we are addressing networking challenges for distributed sites with Universal DDI for Cloud WAN. You can read about how we are helping to secure cloud workloads in our blog “Infoblox Collaborates with Google Cloud on Protective DNS Security” by Mukesh Gupta, chief product officer at Infoblox.
The Enterprise Networking Challenge
Today’s enterprises face a critical inflection point in their network infrastructure strategy. As organizations increasingly embrace cloud-first workloads in the AI era, they struggle with the operational complexity and high costs of managing wide-area connectivity solutions. Traditional approaches, whether using expensive Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) circuits or managing complex SD-WAN deployments in colocation facilities, create significant operational overhead and strain IT budgets.
The challenge becomes even more formidable when delivering and managing critical network services, like DNS and DHCP, across distributed enterprises. Organizations face a difficult choice: They can opt for a distributed architecture, deploying hardware/software appliances at each site. While this approach delivers higher resiliency and optimal low-latency performance, it’s costly to deploy and manage. Alternatively, they can implement a centralized architecture with hardware/software appliances deployed in a data center, servicing all DNS/DHCP traffic from one location. This centralized approach reduces deployment and management costs but results in a suboptimal user experience with higher latencies and creates vulnerability to widespread outages, as all sites depend on the same centralized infrastructure.
Simplifying Global Enterprise Networking in Collaboration with Google Cloud
That’s why I am particularly excited about our partnership with Google Cloud, in which we are integrating Universal DDI for Cloud WAN. This fully integrated solution is not only cost-efficient and easy to deploy and manage, but it also offers unmatched performance and reliability at scale compared with traditional MPLS and WAN alternatives.
Infoblox Universal DDI for Cloud WAN
This cloud-native offering combines Google’s own world-class global Cross-Cloud Network infrastructure with Infoblox’s industry-leading DNS and DHCP capabilities. By integrating Universal DDI with Cloud WAN, we are enabling organizations to:
- Lower Total Cost of Ownership with the simplicity of a single global WAN, replacing multiple bespoke WAN and MPLS solutions to connect workloads, offices, data centers and users across the world over the Google private backbone.
- Leverage Google’s premium global network that connects billions of users around the world to essential services like Gmail and YouTube, spanning 2 million miles of fiber and 33 subsea cables across 200+ countries and territories.
- Deliver reliable infrastructure-free DNS and DHCP services, replacing on-premises hardware and virtualization software for critical network services with a simplified cloud-delivered alternative.
- Gain unified asset visibility with Universal Asset Insights,1 automatically discovering conflicting subnets, zombie assets and dangling DNS records across public clouds to help eliminate outages, reclaim orphaned resources and address security risks.
- Secure branch locations with comprehensive threat protection2, enabling rapid response to security incidents and consistent security policy enforcement across all sites through Infoblox Threat Defense.
What sets this solution apart is the deep integration work completed by our engineering teams. We have removed the integration burden from customers, delivering a seamless, cloud-native experience. This simplified approach extends to procurement as well, with our products available for transaction through the Google Cloud Marketplace.
